After a year and a half of running its Bitcoin circular economy online, Bitcoin Githurai has opened a physical education center in Githurai 45, Nairobi. The announcement calls it Phase 4: Community Building.

What happened

Bitcoin Githurai launched as a circular economy initiative in May 2025 under The Core, Felix Mukungu's Bitcoin education project. It started with merchant onboarding and training, growing from one shop to six, with 16 merchants accepting Lightning payments as of 2026.

The new space is a physical room in Githurai 45, being partitioned to hold cohorts of about 10 people learning Bitcoin. Felix Mukungu and Susan, a community member who describes herself as a Bitcoiner, made the announcement in a video posted on 2 October 2026.

Susan said in the video: "I think it will work in Githurai because we are curious."

How it connects to The Core

Bitcoin Githurai is one of The Core's programs. The Core runs the My First Bitcoin diploma (643‑plus graduates from 28‑plus countries), monthly meetups across Kenya, and the Githurai circular economy. The physical hub adds a permanent space for the Githurai community, moving education from online sessions into a room where merchants and residents can walk in.
