Bitcoin Educators Academy (BEA) held its first edition in Africa in Lusaka, Zambia, from 2 to 4 October 2026. A second edition runs in Lagos, Nigeria, from 8 to 10 October. Both are free for selected participants through a grant from the Human Rights Foundation's Bitcoin Development Fund.
What is Bitcoin Educators Academy?
BEA is a three‑day "train the trainers" programme run by AmityAge, a Bitcoin company with bases in Roatán, Honduras and Bratislava, Slovakia. AmityAge's own description: "BEA is not about learning what is Bitcoin. It is about learning how to communicate Bitcoin in a simple and efficient way."
The curriculum covers public speaking, simplifying complex ideas, creating and using analogies, handling objections, debunking Bitcoin myths and how to approach people who do not yet use Bitcoin. Groups are capped at about 10 per track so everyone presents and gets feedback. Participants need basic Bitcoin knowledge before applying.
Lead educator is Dusan Matuska, who designed the programme. The June 2026 Lugano edition was the 23rd academy overall, and AmityAge counted 186 alumni as of May 2026.
Bitcoin Educators Academy in Lusaka, Zambia
The Lusaka edition ran 2 to 4 October 2026 at Quantum Square office park, in partnership with Bitcoin Zambia, which AmityAge describes as the country's first Bitcoin‑only community, active since 2022 with regular meetups, technical workshops and outreach to women and youth.
Twenty seats were offered across two tracks of 10, and AmityAge listed the event as fully booked. On 2 October it posted from day one, calling it "our first ever BEA on African soil" and thanking HRF and Trezor, its hardware partner.
Bitcoin Educators Academy in Lagos, Nigeria
The Lagos edition runs 8 to 10 October 2026 at Neona Synergy, 14 Admiralty Way, Lekki Phase I, in partnership with DigiOats, which AmityAge describes as a Bitcoin hub with more than 5,000 students trained and B2B Bitcoin services.
AmityAge announced the edition in August with a first track of 10 seats. The first track filled and a second was opened, for 20 seats total, as noted in its 10 September roundup. AmityAge put the regular price at $390 in sats; selected participants pay nothing under the HRF grant. Registration is on the event page.
A third October edition, in Beirut with the Money Talks community, is limited to 10 seats and funded by the same grant.
Why AmityAge runs the academy
AmityAge's stated reason, from the BEA page: educators are a crucial part of Bitcoin adoption and circular economies, and without them people are vulnerable to misinformation, CBDC marketing and scams. The longer plan on the same page is to train educators who can run academies themselves, so AmityAge does not have to travel to every city.
How to apply
Registration forms, FAQs and a Telegram group for future participants are on the BEA hub at amityage.com/bea. Communities that want to host an academy can book a call with Diana, head of BEA, from the same page.
